The Hampton Roads Achievement in Community Theater Awards, or the “ACTys” for short, are organized and put on by a small group of locals who love community theater and want to see it grow and thrive in the Hampton Roads area!  We notably have no qualifications for judging or putting on shows, we are just big fans, with dual goals of:

1. Recognizing the top community theater actors, crew, and theaters in the area through the production of an annual award show, and
2. Helping grow community theater in the area by encouraging attendance through our voting rules, writing reviews to get audiences excited about attending, and generating some press and “buzz” in the area around the award show itself.

We receive no compensation for our work for the HRACT Awards, which is a purely volunteer organization.
